The average price per gallon across all stations, week by week. Over the past year, premium has gone from $5.52 to $6.26, up 74¢.

Active until 31 Dec 2026

Government fuel relief is active

The Government has removed the import duty on gasoline and diesel (Monday 1 June 2026 to Thursday 31 December 2026). Import duty is a charge on fuel when it is brought into the country. Normally it is 75¢ a gallon on gasoline and 85¢ a gallon on diesel.

What this means for you

  • Pump prices should be lower than they would be without it. That's what the Government says it's for.
  • It doesn't set the price. World oil prices, shipping costs and what suppliers charge still move what you pay.
  • When it ends (31 Dec 2026 unless extended again), the duty is charged again.

What the weekly numbers show

Average price of regular gas across the islands:

Just before (26 May 2026)$6.19
Two weeks in (16 Jun 2026)$5.61
Now (29 Sep 2026)$5.76

World fuel prices moved over the same weeks too, so we can't say how much of any change was because of the waiver.

Questions people ask

What is the price of gas in the Cayman Islands today?

The latest OfReg report (Tuesday 29 September 2026) puts the average at $5.76 a gallon for regular, $6.26 for premium and $6.44 for diesel. Prices are in Cayman Islands dollars per imperial gallon. New prices are published every Tuesday.

Where is the cheapest gas in the Cayman Islands?

For regular, the cheapest station in the latest report is Refuel (Airport) in George Town at $5.34 a gallon. Outside Refuel, the cheapest is AA Seven Mile (Rubis) in George Town at $5.51. Cheapest premium: Refuel (Airport) at $5.83; cheapest diesel: Refuel (Airport) at $6.10. Prices differ from station to station, so it is worth comparing the full list.

Will gas prices go up or down?

Nobody can say for sure. Pump prices follow world oil prices, shipping costs and what suppliers charge, and they are affected by Government policy such as the fuel duty waiver, which is in effect until 31 Dec 2026 unless it is extended again. OfReg publishes new prices every Tuesday, so check back each week.

Why is gas more expensive in the Cayman Islands?

The Cayman Islands imports its fuel, so the price follows world market prices plus shipping and local costs. The Government says pump prices are heavily influenced by international market conditions, shipping costs and wholesale supply prices. Import duty on gasoline is normally 75¢ a gallon, and is waived during the active fuel relief programme.

Where do these gas prices come from?

From OfReg (the Utility Regulation and Competition Office). Every gas station and marina reports its prices to OfReg, and OfReg publishes a report every Tuesday. We read that report and show it here in plain English. We don't set or change any prices.

When does OfReg update gas prices?

OfReg publishes a new Retail Fuel Prices Report every Tuesday. This site checks for it twice a day and updates as soon as it is out.

The price at the pump is different. Why?

Prices can change during the week, and some stations run promotions that aren't in the report. This page shows the prices from the latest Tuesday report. Stations must report every price change to OfReg within 48 hours.

Think a gas price is wrong? Who do I tell?

Tell OfReg. Call 946-4282 or email fuels@ofreg.ky. Every station page also has a "Report a wrong price" button that fills in the email for you.

What's the difference between self serve and full serve?

Self serve means you pump the fuel yourself. Full serve means an attendant does it for you, and it usually costs a few cents more per gallon.

What is a gallon in the Cayman Islands, and how do I convert the price to US dollars or litres?

Cayman uses the imperial gallon, which is 4.546 litres and about 20% bigger than a US gallon. The Cayman Islands dollar is fixed at US$1.20. To get the price per litre, divide the gallon price by 4.55; to get US dollars, multiply by 1.20. For example, regular at $5.76 a gallon is about $1.27 a litre, or US$1.52 a litre.

What do the colours on the map mean?

The cheapest station gets a crown. Green pins are cheaper than most, white pins are in the middle, and orange pins are more expensive than most.
